Silvia & Marco a styled wedding at Masseria Mavùgliola
This is a styled wedding: a whole day, from getting ready to the last dance, planned just for the camera. I photographed it at Masseria Mavùgliola in Apulia, a red-and-white villa among olive trees and palms.
Apulia has always had something wild and romantic about it at the same time. It is stark in its colours, warm in its light and full of details that stay in your eyes for a long time. When I arrived at Masseria Mavùgliola, a red-and-white villa hidden among olive trees and palms at the same time, I knew that something special would be made here.
Silvia gets ready
This day began with the moment I love photographing most: silence and focus. Silvia slipped through the garden in lingerie by Promees, light and natural, and at the same time aware of herself. The sun was not burning yet, it had a soft tone, perfect for capturing that intimacy.
The villa was calm. The main bedroom, high ceilings, warm walls: everything smelled of the south and lightness. Her makeup was done by the ever-reliable Nala Makeup, whose skilled hands brought out of Silvia's face all that was most feminine and luminous. Meanwhile her friends helped with the preparations, and Italian music played in the background.
The first dress, designed by Agnieszka Światły, was truly regal, and at the same time it did not pretend to be anything. It was that moment when you know everything is beginning.
Marco among the trulli
While the villa's bedroom was filled with feminine silence and the scent of perfume, Marco was getting ready outside, between the trulli and the red-and-white walls of the Masseria. In the shade of the trees, among whispering leaves and with a view of the garden, his ritual moved at a completely different pace.
There was something incredibly cinematic in the way he calmly buttoned his shirt, adjusted his cuffs and looked ahead with a slight smile.
His closest friend was with him, helping with the final touches. The conversations were quiet but full of closeness, the kind that does not need many words.
Marco's outfits, prepared by gan-store atelier, were like him: refined, elegant, and at the same time with a touch of ease. Every detail mattered. And I, as a photographer, was only looking for the light that would bring out what was already beautiful.
First look at the red door
Silvia and Marco's first meeting that day took place against the red doors of the Masseria, intense, like their emotions. It was the part of the villa where the walls spoke for themselves: "stop, this matters". The warm texture of the wall, leaves gently moved by the wind, the muted light of late afternoon. Perfect.
Silvia came out first, in her main dress, the "fairytale wedding" one, designed by Agnieszka Światły. When she walked, everything went quiet. Even I stopped breathing for a moment.
And then: that moment. A look that needs neither words nor directing. Just them. Naturalness, emotion, tension and relief: all at once.
For me, as a photographer, one of those frames you never forget.
The ceremony behind Masseria Mavùgliola
At the back of the Masseria, where the garden gave way to wild greenery, the ceremony spot waited, prepared with care for every detail. Stairs, green palms, red doors and shutters. A symbolic place that on that day became the centre of their universe.
Marco was already waiting there. He stood in the shade of the leaves, calm, with his hands folded in front of him.
Silvia came out slowly, led by quiet music and the wind, which gently lifted her veil. She was completely covered: in tulle, in emotion, in light. In her hands she held a bouquet of red anthurium, minimalist, but as intense as her presence.
When she reached the ceremony spot and their eyes met again, the world seemed to stop. The ceremony was symbolic, but you could feel its weight. The vows: whispered, with difficulty but also with a smile. At one point the veil slipped from Silvia's shoulders, revealing her face and all the soft glow of a woman in love. Rings, a kiss, a smile and a walk through a line of friends with raised hands… The world simply welcomed their love with open arms.
Portraits right after the vows
Right after the ceremony ended, I asked them not to leave yet. The decorations were still hanging, the white fabrics rippled in the wind, the red anthurium still smelled fresh. Everything was still "in the moment". And them: they looked as if they had just stepped off the cover of an exclusive bridal magazine.
I wanted to keep it. That sparkle in their eyes, that energy after the vows, when they are still in a light trance of being in love. I placed them in the light that squeezed through the palm leaves: soft, but with character.
I did not want it to look like yet another "after everything" session. Frames that do not end the story, but keep it going a little longer.
A red cabriolet and a second dress
Before the guests dove into the aperitivo and Italian flavours, I took Silvia and Marco away for one more short moment just for them. A red retro cabriolet was waiting there, as if taken from an Italian film of the 60s. Elegant, shiny, with a soft interior that was just begging for quick photos.
Silvia had already changed her dress: this time it was a fitted, sensual "fishtail" designed by Agnieszka Światły. The subtle line of the back, the delicate sheen of the fabric and a cut that accentuated her figure with absolute class.
And Marco? This time he went for relaxed classic! The suit was still elegant, but a little more in tune with the idyllic feel of Apulia.
Dinner in the garden
The garden at the side of the Masseria turned into a stage: long tables set in the shape of the letter "S", wrapped in string lights, decorated with autumn fruit and juicy grapes. Red anthurium mixed with dried apples, green shoots fell softly from the candlesticks. Clean wood met wine, glass, detail.
Before they sat down, I captured a few more details: silver cutlery, handwritten place cards by Oh.Paper, minimalist candles. This table said that here, people celebrate with class.
When the couple took their seats, the most beautiful part began: a reception full of good company, warmth and spontaneous emotion.
The toasts were unplanned, but that is exactly why they were so sincere. It was not a typical wedding dinner. It was a celebration of people who were truly happy to be in each other's company. No rush, no tension.
Cake and dancing into the night
The evening was drawing to a close, but the energy… was only just beginning. In front of the red-and-white facade of the Masseria, the cake appeared: minimalist, elegant, a perfect match for the aesthetic of the whole day. Geometric, covered in smooth cream, decorated with flowers and grapes, it looked like an extension of the table that had impressed with its detail earlier.
Silvia and Marco, already in their evening looks, cut the cake with smiles that said everything. No pomp, no artifice. It was a sweet, shared moment, symbolic, but real.
And then… it began. Music flowed through the garden. Italian first: the classics you sway your hips to with your eyes closed. Then English, laughter, the tapping of shoes on the stone floor.
Silvia in another dress: shorter, full of ease. Friends joined in, the dance circles widened, feet carried themselves.
The Masseria, lit up with string lights, looked from afar like a film set. And I stood to the side and knew that I had captured in my frames something more than just images. I managed to tell the emotions: from the first light, all the way to the last dance under the stars.
From the morning light in the bedroom to the last dance on the stone floor.
